Education
Hello all!! My name is Denise, I am an LPC practicing in Texas for almost 3 years. I'm committed to facilitating mental, emotional, and psychological change in a wide range of ages from 2yrs - 85yrs with multicultural and diversity inclusion. I hope to offer a fresh perspective with an integrated therapeutic approach for the counseling needs of children, individuals, families, couples and community organization. My scope of practice integrates researched treatment approaches such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Strengths-Based Therapy, Psychoanlaytic Therapy, Family Systems Therapy and Play Therapy.
My beliefs about counseling were influenced by my previous career experiences, relationships in life, and my journey as a parent. Counseling is my second career in life. I spent over 15 years in other areas serving several health care fields. Witnessing and learning how unmet mental health, psychological needs or environmental factors may have an affect on an individual's body. I love learning about my growing field in areas of neuroscience and neuropsychotherapy research, techniques and client populations.
From my own experience as an adoptive mom of four amazing kids, I'm passionate to support adoptive parents, caregivers, and adoptees with the common core issues related to adoption. Issues such as exploring one’s identity, processing trauma, PTSD, abuse, grief, loss, addressing behavioral disorders, working through anxiety, depression, addiction or healing from attachment issues.
